1930s German Lithograph Toy Set
1930s German Lithograph Toy Set
Buy the farm. Kick the bucket. Have a cow…Pull up your lederhosen get busy in the bauernhof! This gently used German farmyard (located right here in the USA) comes to life in full 3D glory thanks to 25 embossed, four-color lithographic printed figures (including the fraus doing all the work) set into slotted wooden stands. Many have a “Germany” stamp still visible on the bottom, go figure!
Ja, there’s a little wear. The birdhouse has been glued (see closeup). One goat seems to have a split personality issue… but goats can be like that sometimes… Overall, it’s a little slice of 1930’s bucolic drudgery designed to inspire a bold breed of hands-dirty, rugged entrepreneurs.
The boxed image is not mine but shows the complete 29 figure set in an original box - the one for sale here has no original box and has only 25 pieces. Missing are two dogs, one doghouse (somebody loved their pups!), a hen, and an apple tree. But the search continues. Please check your milch cartons, local pound, freezer and nearest streudel for these awol figures.
