Sterling Silver Antique Thimble

$35.00

Initialled monogram: L. E. H. across a clean band with size 11 (although it really does look like L1).

Chased rolled rim with feather design. Sheild indicates Simons Bros sterling but is slightly occluded. You could hitchhike real far with a beauty like this shining off your thumb. Or add it to a collection. Or give it as a gift Laura, Lisa, Leonard or Lorraine H. Eisenhower, Enkel, Earnhardt, Eelcatcher… you get the gist.

Trivia moment: The modern-day wedding ring in America has a thimble relevant story! Rumor was that the Puritans colonizing early America did not believe in adornment (or much else fun, so they say). So it was common practice for a man to present a thimble to his fiancée - symbolic of his wish to marry her. Eventually, these brides began cutting off the rim of these thimbles to craft a simple band they could wear.  Thus, the practice of wedding rings for women started.

Note: most likely this is bunk. Ever notice that fingers were even smaller then… and no way did a thimble ring fit on a finger. But still, nice thought.
