Victorian Sterling Simons Brothers 4, Priscilla Thimble
Sterling Silver collector’s item features a clear Simon’s mark and 1898 patented date engraved on side in a size 4, indicating this was most likely for a young lady or child. No other engraving other than Priscilla motif and both the design and Sterling mark inside. The base measures 12.7 mm or about .5 inches in diameter. It does show some minimal wear, but considering its age, it’s in marvelous condition see pics.
1898 Patent Marked Priscilla Thimble by SImons Brothers: This sterling silver thimble features a recognizable double band with egg and dart design along the bottom. Inside the cap is a clear Simons Brothers shield with the “Priscilla” and size indicated on the band along with the patent mark “Pat. May 32 -98.” According to an earlier listing online, it is also referenced in p87 of Gay AnnRogers’ book American Silver Thimbles.
